PHOTOSHOP BLEND MODES EXPLAINED
working with blend modes is almost always an experimental process. Because it’s nearly impossible to predict the results, you always seem to end up experimenting with different modes and Fill Opacities until you get the results you’re looking for.
In this article I’m going to give you a high-level view of what the various blend modes do, and then I’ll dig deeper into the nuts and bolts of the blend modes by explaining some of the math involved, and their interrelationships with each other. I’m not going to “show” you how the blend modes work—I’m going to “explain” how they work. By the time you finish reading this article, you should have a better idea of how to use blend modes and where to begin your “experimentation,” which in turn should reduce the time it takes to achieve the results you’re looking for.
a very detailed but comprehensive article. definitely worth a read. thanks to @xeophin for the link!
(NOTE: this isn’t the way i learn at all - GIMME VISUALS I NEED TO SEEEEEEE - but srsly it’s great information! If p r o c e s s i n g it isn’t your cup of tea don’t worry, just keep experimenting, you’ll get there <3)
So yeah, maybe this is useful for someone :D

TYPOGRAPHY RESOURCE & CREDIT POST
One of the most important things I’ve learned from researching typography during my digital art class is this: font design is hard as balls, and if any of those designers saw the way I’ve superimposed their hard work across Batman’s face in a less-than-skilled-manner, they would probably cry. The links in this post should cover all the fonts I’ve used in past graphics and any future graphics.
Just a friendly reminder: graphics are like evolution—sometimes you throw a bunch of cool shit together and get something awesome like a platypus, and other times you get an ugly slimy blind undersea creature that eats poop. Using a good font doesn’t necessarily mean you will get a platypus.
Photoset Fonts:
I. Just—My—Type (Soraya)
II. Lost Type (Oil Can, Tommaso, Ranger, Wisdom Script, Muncie, Pompadour, Deming)
III. The League of Moveable Type (Ostrich Sans, Blackout)

I would also recommend checking my design tag on Delicious for any new fonts I may find in the future.

All these colors were achieved with red, yellow, blue, and green food coloring mixed into white frosting. The amount of drops needed for the color you want is underneath the icing color. So convenient. :)
I love Mint Chip = 3 blue, 3 green
